Manoir Maplewood was built in 1864 by entrepreneur and Senator Asa Belknap Foster. At the end of the 19th century, Manoir Maplewood was converted into Maplewood Convent, a boarding school for girls. However, the declining religious population led the community of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary to dispose of it in 1989.
