Bakewell, England DE45 1DD
Open 11am to 4pm Monday-Sunday from 25 March to 5 November. Within this atmospheric building, explore the stories of its occupants from Tudor time: tax collectors, Arkwright mill workers, and even a night soil man. Nestled within the Tudor rooms, with their massive open fireplaces, wattle and daub screens and beamed ceilings, are displays on the people of Bakewell and the local people of the White and Dark Peak. 2024 Exhibition: Treasured Quilts: warmth and wealth. Come and view some of the museum's collection of remarkable Patchwork Quilts and Coverlets. The quilts and coverlets are all made from offcuts and scraps of precious fabrics and old clothing; symbolic of kinship, resourcefulness, skill and craftmanship. Every Thursday at 1:30 we provide guided tours of the town.
