Ballet Black, founded in 2001 by Cassa Pancho OBE, is the UK's first professional neoclassical ballet company dedicated to showcasing diversity and promoting inclusivity for Black and Asian dancers. Over the past two decades, it has emerged as a pivotal force in British ballet, performing at over 100 venues and amassing a diverse audience while commissioning more than 70 new works from innovative choreographers.
In addition to its main company, Ballet Black established the Junior School in 2002 to make ballet accessible to children, particularly in West London. The school focuses on inclusivity and representation, teaching students from three to eighteen years old with an emphasis on providing role models in the form of Black and Brown instructors.
