Thirty miles south of London you can explore one of the best surviving medieval landscapes in Northern Europe. Mysterious ancient woodland and fern-clad streams; intriguing timber-framed buildings; sunken lanes created by Saxon drovers and Tudor iron masters; and the South East's largest heathland Ashdown Forest. The 1461 square kilometre area covers parts of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
