Incisive Letterwork

Incisive Letterwork, established in 1988 by Brenda Berman and Annet Stirling, is a design studio focused on architectural inscriptions, memorials, and word sculpture. The duo, who trained under the renowned Bertold Wolpe at the City and Guilds of London Art School, utilise their backgrounds in painting and graphic design to create innovative and impactful letterforms.

The studio's work is notably influenced by their collaboration with a Dorset quarry and their experiences studying marble and historical inscriptions in Italy, facilitated by a Churchill Fellowship in 1996. Through their practice, they continue to push the boundaries of legibility and abstraction in lettering, showcasing their artistry in major lettering exhibitions.
