St. Peters Road
Petersfield, England GU32 3HX
Situated at the foot of the South Downs, Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery is an accredited, independent museum and registered charity. Established in 1999, the Museum has recently undergone a multi-million-pound National Lottery Heritage Fund redevelopment, entitled ‘Pathways into the Past’. Located in a Victorian police station and a magistrates’ courthouse, the Museum tells a cohesive story of the history of Petersfield and its neighbouring villages over the last 10,000 years. The story is told through stunning collections, including the Bedales Collection of historic dress, the Flora Twort Collection of painting, the Don Eades Collection of photographs, as well as an extensive range of social history objects, including a penny farthing. The Museum also holds archaeological objects, excavated from Petersfield Heath, stretching back over 4,000 years.
