On a gentle hillside, with extensive views, Pounds Farm lies in the beautiful Blackdown Hills which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pounds dates from the 1600's. It has an old world charm and is a relaxed family home, surrounded by several areas of sheltered pretty gardens, with well stocked borders. We offer you a tranquil retreat, in comfort, at a reasonable cost. We have a choice of a king ensuite and/or double rooms with sumtuous feather duvets, pure cotton sheets, soft towels and heated towel rails in all private bathrooms. Each room has fresh coffee and tea trays, TV and DVD and a stunning view down the valley. We have claw feet baths and all showers are power showers. I enjoy growing flowers for cutting, so there are always fresh, and often scented, flowers in your room. High speed internet is freely available throughout the house and gardens, and even beside the heated swimming pool. We have our own private spring water supply which is kind to your skin and with organic flour, makes our bread taste wonderful. We squeeze our own apples and have our own hens. All foods are locally sourced and the bacon and sausages are from the pigs you can see on the hillside. The property is enclosed by farmland yet has a well maintained drive and plenty of secure parking. The village of Hemyock has a Post Office, a Parish Church and a Medieval Castle. There is a Doctors surgery with dispensary and also three Public, flood lit, hard surface tennis courts, a cricket pitch, a bowling green and a boules court. The Blackdown Hills are perfect for talking country walks, cyling along quiet lanes and bird watching. Evening badger watching can be arranged. The local pub, (within half a mile), The Catherine Wheel, now has an ex River Cottage chef, and is so popular, it is best to book in advance. We are only 5 miles from the M5 and 10 miles from the A303.
