Russian Orthodox Church

The Podvorie of St Seraphim of Sarov in Birmingham, Great Britain, was established on 28 October 1986 under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Constantine Jesensky. This monastic centre aims to uphold the traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church, focusing on the enrichment of the Orthodox faith while strictly adhering to its pre-revolutionary roots.

In light of the 2007 unification of the historic Russian Orthodox Church Abroad with the Patriarchate of Moscow, the community chose to remain loyal to Metropolitan Vitaly, the legal First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. The church believes it is divinely guided to maintain the integrity and continuity of the genuine Russian Orthodox faith.
