Station Road
Darley Bridge, England DE4 2EQ
Our rooms are currently closed and will be open again after Easter 2024 The earliest reference of the Square and Compass is 1735 when Robert Clayton built the original building on his marriage to Elizabeth Sherwyn. Today, a stone with his initials dated 1735 can be seen on the facade of the building. The Square and Compass is situated on the banks of the River Derwent between the market towns of Bakewell & Matlock. Delicious home cooked food is served in the lounge and conservatory. There is an extensive camping and caravanning site with toilet and shower facilities. If fishing is your sport, then the pub has the fishing rights for a stretch of the river opposite the pub. For visitors to the area, the pub has five en-suite bedrooms. Our campsite will be open from Spring 2024
