High Street, England PO17 6EB
The Golden Lion has the honour of being the D Day pub that was used as the unofficial mess during the preparations for D Day at Southwick Park. The lounge was reputedly used by Churchill, Montgomery, Smuts and Eisenhower, the barmaid Edwina that served them has recently died at the age of 100 yrs. We have a small cosy lounge with a roaring log fire in the winter a small restaurant and a further larger bar in which we also serve food. Dogs are welcome in the larger bar and we have a no smoking side garden with tables for summer. Our Head chef Sonny and his team prepare our local seasonal food freshly to order and will cater for funerals, birthdays leaving parties and other gatherings, we have been known to let the whole pub out for some functions dependant on numbers, just ask and we will be pleased to discuss any enquiries. We welcome Britstops into our car park please phone ahead and have your membership book to hand on arrival
