A hidden gem in Shepherd Market, a lively area off Piccadilly once discovered never forgotten, the same goes for our quicky elegant pub, with freshly cooked food and a friendly team to help you decide what to drink from our unique drinks range, and tell you the tales of the area. The Market Tavern has been a pub from 1883, it did burn down and was rebuilt in the 1930's.Shepherd Market was the site for the 1st Maypole and orginally was a market where farmers bought their livestock to sell and attend the May Fair, in the 1800's Edward Shepherd had the idea to build it into a little village area.This has been a lively risque area since the days of King Charles 1 when he housed his mistresses in the market area.
