Who is Transit Man? Hi, my name's Paul and I run a very successful man and van business. My company name Transit Man originates from when I started up as a self-employed courier with, yes you guessed it, a Ford Transit van. I worked for a number of courier companies delivering parcels nationwide and also around the Reading area. One day a friend of mine was moving into a new flat and she asked me if I would help her move home. I agreed and did the job well. It suddenly dawned on me that I wasn't using my van to its full capacity - I could do the other jobs as well as being a courier! I had one problem. I needed a bigger van as I only had a short wheelbase, so I bought a copy of Autotrader and traded my little workhorse in for a larger one. See my new van on the next page. I went to Greater London and bought an Ford Transit Long Wheelbase Luton Van with Tail-Lift van, as I had already given out business cards with Transit Man on them and I decided to keep the name.
