It’s clear to see why the Duke of Argyll picked this particular spot to build Dungallan Country House as his summer residence in 1870. Dungallan’s owner and new management team embarked on an extensive renovation in early 2022 to sympathetically reinstate some well-deserved sumptuous, understated charm and glamour. In addition to the bedroom refurbishment, three new suites were also created with the addition of opulent roll top baths and underfloor heating. In the main house, the bar, restaurant and library were also treated to the tasteful renovation experience. This included a wall to wall bookcase in the library, the perfect spot to relax after a long day, tastefully upholstered comfortable and inviting seating in the bar to enjoy a tipple of your choice and the fabulous restaurant with breath-taking views over Oban Bay and the hills beyond. The Gaelic translation of Oban is little bay and you will discover that the enviable position of Dungallan Country House yields full advantage of this Scottish gem.
