Teresa welcomes you to the HammerSmith. We cater extensively for Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets. We are situated in the heart of the west Mainland near to the lochs of Harray and Stenness, close to the World Heritage neolithic sites of Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones of Stenness and the Ness of Brodgar. We are on the main road from Birsay to Finstown conveniently close to both Kirkwall (10 miles) and Stromness (9 miles). With the Merkister Hotel only 2 miles and the Smithfield Arms 4 miles away you do not have to go far for a relaxing drink or a meal. Fishermen can take advantage of the hire boats available at the Merkister Hotel which is situated on the shore of Loch Harray. Car hire is highly recommended, as travel around the island can be limited by bus. Please also book cars well in advance. We also have our own website from where you can book at the best rates. The sunsets and sun rises in Orkney are amazing, we have copious amounts of wonderful wildlife, bird watching RSPB areas nearby, Puffins visit yearly,seals all around us, Orcas, otters etc.
