Glasgow, Scotland G44 3YU
Masterfully designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson in 1858, Holmwood is a National Trust for Scotland property. It is a unique building where visitors can explore 'Greek' Thompson's creative genius and impressive interior design, and the only one of his kind open to visitors. Cupolas, columns and floor-to-ceiling windows are bathed in Thomson patterns, while the bold opulent decoration echoes the colours found in ancient Greek temples. The tours explore Thomson, Holmwood and Glasgow as visitors explore the beautifully restored rooms in the house. Holmwood Café serves a selection of sweet treats, drinks and ice creams and the gift shop is stocked with local Scottish designer products. All the profits from admissions, the café and the gift shop remain towards the conservation of Holmwood and the valuable job of the National Trust for Scotland.
