Paisley Thread Mill Museum
The Paisley Thread Mill Museum, established in 2003, aims to narrate the rich history of the Clarks and Coats Thread Mills in Paisley, showcasing the evolution of thread making in the area from its inception in 1722 until the last mill closed in 1993. The museum features a variety of themed exhibits spread across 15 display cases along with interactive digital archives, providing visitors a comprehensive insight into the thread manufacturing industry of Paisley.
In 2017, the museum undertook a project funded by HLF and Renfrewshire Council, creating a touring exhibition that explored the local thread industry and engaged with schools and care homes. The museum also welcomes groups of all ages and offers opportunities for volunteering and participating in regular stitching group sessions and special workshops. Generated from the website
