Tormore House

Tormore House is an 1830s sandstone villa ideally located overlooking the river Nith and close to the town centre of Dumfries. The villa was fully renovated and updated in the late 1990ies by the current owners, who also ensured that as many original features were maintained as possible. Visitors to Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary will not find a B&B any closer (only 3 minutes walk!) and the Crichton is just a few yards further up the hill. If you’re a keen poet then you can visit the Robert Burns House to see the desk and chair in the study where he wrote some of his best known poems. A number of golf courses are close by, and the B&B owner Tom will be happy to recommend you where to go, as he is a keen golfer himself! Tormore House is easily reached by car, and a 10 minute taxi ride from the Station. Tormore House B&B offers parking on its forecourt for a limited number of cars, and further parking is available just across the road. Unfortunately we cannot accept smokers. Bedrooms are located on the first floor and as such cannot be easily accessed by wheelchair users or visitors who have difficulties using stairs.
