Alberta Elementary School

American Christian Academy is a Tuscaloosa County, Ala.-based co-educational school that offers regular elementary, secondary and high school education from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The school conducts an entrance exam for grades 2nd to 12th and accepts students into the 7th to 12th grade through teacher recommendation. The academy organizes regular student trips to different countries of the world. It also provides for various sports and has athletic teams for football, cross-country and track events, girls soccer, softball, baseball, golf and wrestling.

Skyland Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes programs in language arts, mathematic, science and social studies. The school additionally has art, music and physical education specialists. Skyland Elementary School supports a student council. It has a library that organizes Scholastic book fairs and offers an accelerated reader program that encourages student to read books. The North River Christian Academy, formerly known as Open Door Christian School, serves more than 250 students in preschool through grade 12. The independent, coeducational academy organizes athletic programs in football, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and softball. It offers participation opportunities in student organizations, such as the National Beta Club and the National Honor Society. The North River Christian Academy also provides programs in theater, visual arts and music. The academy offers classes in religion, English, mathematics, science and physical education, as well as administers a college-preparatory academic program. In addition, it operates a parent-teacher fellowship and provides guidance counseling and food services. The North River Christian Academy is a ministry of Open Door Baptist Church.
