The UAB Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) is an interdisciplinary center located on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Established in 1989 with the support of Civitan International, the CIRC focuses on the development of the mind-brain through service, education, and research, with a mission to improve the well-being and quality of life for individuals and families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities. The CIRC aims to expand knowledge about human development and developmental disabilities through research, provide interdisciplinary clinical and research training, develop high-quality services and programs, and exchange information with consumers, practitioners, scientists, and society.
