HistoryGregory Rogers started this agency in 1993 and we now have 2 employees to serve you. American Family Insurance was started by Herman Wittwer, a struggling insurance salesman who dreamed of selling auto insurance to Wisconsin farmers. He understood that farmers presented lower risks compared to city drivers because they drove less often and parked their autos for the winter. Confident he had a good idea, Herman opened Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in 1927. Our company's name changed in 1963 to American Family Mutual Insurance Company. Today, we offer auto, home, life, umbrella, business, health, and farm & ranch insurance, and retirement products. As a mutual insurance company, our customers and owners are one and the same.
