The mission of the Prescott Police Department is to protect the people and property of Prescott, Ariz. The Prescott patrol division is the backbone of the department and has the major responsibility for apprehending criminals and the prevention of crime. Divided into five teams, the patrol division responds to all types of calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It also enforces community traffic laws. The canine unit assists in searches and identification of drugs. Prescott s 40,000 residents made 36,000 calls for service in 2005.
