Altipiano Vineyard & Winery

Altipiano is a boutique vineyard and winery surrounded by Denise and Peter’s Tuscan Inspired Villa complete with a tasting and barrel room and a winery production facility. Shaded, welcoming patios, umbrella-covered tables, fountains, flowering potted plants and terraced gardens line the handsome Tuscan-inspired property that invites guests to sit, sip and take in the majestic and compelling landscape. March of 2007, Peter and I toured Venice and Southern Tuscany and fell in love with the hill town of Montalcino, famous for its Brunello wines. The charm of its countryside and beautifully serene vineyard views touched something inside of us. San Diego wildfires of 2007 made our dream a reality when fires destroyed the avocado trees on the land and prompted us to plant 3600 vines. Her focus as a winemaker is on Italian varietals, including the Estate Brunello Sangiovese, Super Tuscan, Barbera and Primitivo. Denise is one of only twelve female winemakers in San Diego.
