Alcoholic and non alcoholic steatohepatitis are major causes of end stage liver disease. My goal as a clinician-scientist is to develop new treatment approaches that improve patient outcomes. My research lab is studying the pathomechanism of liver fibrosis and we are focusing on discovering novel therapies and translating them to clinical care.

Food has always been a big part of my life. Imagine what life would be like if eating made you sick? Because we need food to survive and we are social creatures who revolve much of our lives around food, not being able to eat impacts physical, mental and social well-being. It is this intricate interconnection between the brain and the gut which drew me to the field of Neurogastroenterology & Motility. Disorders affecting the function of the gastrointestinal tract can lead to a variety of disorders, including gastroparesis, functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Dr. Eldika received his medical education at the American University of Beirut. He completed his General Gastroenterology Fellowship at the State University of New York in Buffalo and Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at the University of Virginia. At Ohio State University, he served as the Director of Interventional Endoscopy and Endoscopic Quality. His time at Ohio State University contributed to the growth and maturity of his experience and skills in interventional endoscopy. During his tenure there, he played a major role in building the program of interventional endoscopy in general, as well as interventional endoscopy for the pediatric age group, and the endoscopic quality program.
