History

I have been teaching the drums almost as long as I have been playing. If you don't love playing, how can you love teaching?!? I am happy to help folks in whatever way works for them - be it learning for fun or for serious study. I am happy to have more people enjoying my favorite instrument and helping facilitate that everyday brings a great amount of joy to my life. I've been teaching in-person in San Francisco for many years now.I have also recently expanded to teaching online via various platforms and have created an online school featuring beginning courses on the Teachable platform.

Specialties

I am comfortable teaching most ages and abilities and do my best to custom tailor my lessons to each student. The sessions are private one-on-one lessons. I want to help every drummer reach their goals on the instrument. You can learn for fun or take a more serious approach - whichever best suits your needs. I have taught kids from the age of three all the way to retired adults in their seventies and most ages in between. I do my best to focus on what students want to learn and I am more than happy to work with beginners of all ages. I am comfortable with most styles on drum kit, but specialize in rock/popular music. I can coach you in regards to playing in bands, along with songs or working on parts. I am also happy to help with students with school band study (concert band, marching band, mallets, etc.) and have the gear available to do so. Along with the many students that play in various band situations, I can help with auditions for various programs. I have had students accepted into the music department of SOTA (School of the Arts High School, San Francisco) and the Dick Grove Music School (Los Angeles Music Trade School) and those that have gone on to attend San Francisco State on Music Scholarships and tour with the Paul Green's School of Rock's All-Stars. I have a B.A. in Percussion Education and experience playing many styles and situations.
