HistoryRacing Beat was founded in 1971 by Jim Mederer, Racing Beat's chief engineer, and Takayuki Oku, exhaust system designer. In the late 60's Oku arrived from Japan with knowledge of the rotary engine and teamed up with Jim, a local club racer, and a partnership was soon formed. To support their racing efforts Jim and Oku developed and sold a line of rotary parts for the early RX-2 and RX3 applications. Over the years this product line has expanded to exclude a wide array of performance parts for many Mazda applications.
