History

Golden Gate Veterinary Specialists offers full-service veterinary dermatology and specialty surgical services. Dermatology services include intra-dermal skin allergy testing, serum allergy testing, skin biopsy, cryo-surgery, and video otoscopy. Nicole Eckholm, DVM, MS, DACVD is a graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and has a Master's degree in Microbiology. Dr. Eckholm is the ONLY board certified veterinary dermatologist in the North Bay, and formed Golden Gate Vet Specialists in Nov, 2020. With 25+ years of experience in veterinary surgery, Dr. James Farese DVM, DACVS, joined the GGVS team offering orthopedic, oncologic and general/soft tissue surgical procedures for dogs and cats. Veterinary surgeons act as a resource for your primary veterinarian by providing consultations on difficult or unusual cases.

Golden Gate Veterinary Specialists works with pet owners, veterinarians, and animal rescue groups across the Bay Area, providing high-level specialty medicine for animals in need of allergy/dermatology and surgical care. Golden Gate Veterinary Dermatology is a referral-based practice that specializes in complex medical conditions involving the skin, hair, ears, and nails. Allergy is the most commonly treated condition which comprises approximately 70% of cases seen. Thirty percent of cases involve infectious and auto-immune diseases. Our services provide treatment for pets suffering from obscure, hard to manage, and often times very complicated ailments of the skin and ears that are beyond the scope of the general practitioner.
