God calls individuals to know Him and to proclaim His message. Prior to his ascension, Jesus instructed his disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from on high (Luke 24:47-49). The book of Acts records the disciples following and proclaiming the divine instructions of Jesus (Acts chapters 2,8,10, & 19). They confidently proclaimed a New Birth message (John 3:5; 1 Cor. 15:1-4). That message demands a human response. When Peter preached in Acts 2, his comments drew them to ask the deliberative subjunctive, What shall we do? The answer couldnt have been clearer, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
