Friends of the Jewish Community of Mozambique is a volunteer-run, U.S. tax-exempt non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the historic Jewish community of Maputo, Mozambique. The organization facilitates non-sectarian Hebrew-English-Portuguese services and promotes Jewish learning in a recently renovated synagogue that dates back to 1926. In addition to celebrating Shabbat and Jewish holidays, the community actively engages in tikkun olam projects that benefit the larger Mozambican society.
