Los Osos Elfin Forest is a 90-acre natural area located adjacent to the Morro Bay estuary, managed by San Luis Obispo County Parks and California State Parks. This diverse ecosystem features various plant communities, including coastal brackish marsh, pygmy oak woodland, and maritime chaparral, supporting an array of wildlife such as over 200 plant species, 110 bird species, and numerous mammals and reptiles.
Established in 1994 by the Los Osos Morro Bay Chapter of Small Wilderness Area Preservation, now known as Friends of El Moro Elfin Forest, the organization focuses on the preservation and maintenance of the area. They promote educational initiatives about the natural history of the Elfin Forest and foster scientific research within this sensitive habitat.
