John P. Nolan, President and CEO of Central Coating Company, founded the company in 1958. While attending Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, John worked summers painting farm buildings and eventually grain elevators. John P. Nolan Central Coating Company became known for its quality work and soon the company was sandblasting and painting large tank farms throughout the United States. In 1967, Central Coating Company relocated to California and installed its first Spray Polyurethane Foam roof at Allied Chemical Company in Port Chicago, CA. A large contract with United Vintners ( now Constellation Wines ) brought Central Coating Company to Madera, California in 1970, which became the company's headquarters.
