Founded in 1955, Murphy Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 330 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school serves students in Richmond, El Sobrante and other local communities, including San Pablo, Hercules, Pinole and Rodeo in California. It is a feeder school for Crespi Middle School and DeAnza High School. Murphy Elementary School offers classes in math, English, science and social studies. The school provides Title I, special education and after-school programs. It operates a parent-teacher association that organizes fundraising events. Murphy Elementary School features a library and computer lab. The school is governed by the West Contra Costa Unified School District.
