History

A girl named Myrtle from the North Carolina countryside with a big passion for politics and baking met a big city Sailor from New York named Moses and they instantly fell in love. They got married and settled in a small town in North Carolina, Statesville where Myrtle's family was from. Moses went on to study and become a Doctor. Unfortunately at those times in that area only one colored Doctor at a time was allow to practice in the colored community so Moses was unable to use his medical degree and secure a good living for his family and ended up being janitor. Myrtle who was known all over for her pies however was undeterred and began to use her baking to support her family. Myrtle was my great Grandmother and she passed on her love for baking and set a high standard for culinary tastes with her family recipes. What started with a pie began a movement to not only share goodness but show that for those who believe they can provide with something as little as a pie.
