Mar Vista Elementary is a school that offers learning programs to more than 600 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school manages the Mar Vista Library, which provides access to over 8,000 reading books, encyclopedias, dictionaries and resource materials, as well as administers an accelerated reader program. It also has a computer laboratory that offers Internet access. Mar Vista Elementary governs special education and English Language Learners programs. In addition, the school provides instruction in language arts, mathematics and science. It offers an after-school program through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Mar Vista Elementary operates a parent-teacher club and offers extracurricular activities, such as basketball and band. Founded in 1965, Tierra Vista School serves more than 550 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school offers classes in various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, science and social science. It offers tutoring and counseling services. Tierra Vista School features a library, media center and over 20 classrooms. It provides extracurricular activities, including spelling bee competitions, fine arts shows and science fairs. The school operates a parent-faculty organization. Tierra Vista School offers special education classes, as well as after-school programs for gifted and talented students. The school also manages a basketball team and band. Tierra Vista Elementary School is part of the Ocean View School District.
