Our employees are the best; we feel very fortunate to have such a good group of guys working for us. Floyd Arthur's expertise in drilling has given him the opportunity to drill internationally. Floyd has made at least 20 trips to Australia in 9 years. Floyd was also given the opportunity to drill in Poland; unfortunately, he declined due to obligations with his business here in the states. Floyd is truly the perfect example of the American Dream. His family came to the Caruthers area from Oklahoma during the early 1900's. Floyd was unable to finish high school, due to his family obligations. Floyd's first well drilling job was with Bill Belnap Well Drilling in Reedley 1959. Bill was an excellent employer and served as Floyd's mentor. To this day Floyd is very grateful that Bill took the time and interest in him he needed in order to learn the trade. Floyd started his own business in 1971 under the name of Western Well Drilling. In 1972 Floyd's brother-in-law Orvel Orum came on board. This is when the name was changed to Arthur & Orum Well Drilling. Orvel retired in 1989. The name stayed the same. Steve Floyd's son had always worked in the well drilling business so it was only natural to carry on in the family tradition. Barbara, Floyd's wife and Kim Hammond, their daughter, complete the office staff.
