Signing With Connie

History

I retired last year after many years of teaching infants and preschoolers and their parents. I also taught sign language for 30 years at San Francisco State University to graduate students. I soon realized that i really missed teaching so I started a business of teaching sign language to parents of young babies individually and in small groups in their homes. There are many language, speech and emotional benefits from signing with babies. Research from NIH has shown that the early use of sign language with babies leads to earlier communication, less frustration, earlier spoken vocabularies and more sophisticated symbolic play at 2 years of age. My classes also include information on language and speech stimulation techniques.

Specialties

My specialty is teaching baby sign language. I also teach age appropriate sign language to preschoolers and their parents, deaf and hard of hearing and special needs children and elementary children in after school programs. Vocabulary practice is enhanced through stories and songs. I am a credentialed teacher with a master's degree and many years of experience teaching parents, infants and preschoolers.
