It exists to serve the needs of its members, and to support them in providing the highest quality care to their many, varied customers. It is an Association of members, and it is the membership that drives the organization. In 1947, as now, the industry faced challenges that required an effective advocacy and business support organization. The industry has changed dramatically in all its facets, and CPM has changed in step. When appropriate-as determined by the membership-the Association provides advocacy, public relations, business, and educational leadership to give its members-and the industry as a whole-the tools it needs to grow and thrive. The industry has diversified, become more professional, and taken on greater challenges. The Association now represents a widely diversified group of providers, from traditional nursing facilities to highly specialized subacute centers and every type of disability services and senior housing provider. The industry has adopted new technologies to cope with evolving healthcare and regulatory and employment environments.
