Dave Helwig had a dream to move to the wine country upon retirement. After searching with his wife, Nancy, for the perfect wine region to relocate to from their home in Southern California, Dave couldn't resist the charm and simplicity the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County had to offer. Dave, Nancy, and Scott Helwig planted their roots (literally and figuratively) and are producing wines to be enjoyed with their friends, family, and great food.

After the devastating fire in May of 2017, our winery building is now fully functional...gorgeous winery, new Private Tasting Room, beautifully appointed offices, and the new commercial kitchen is nothing short of spectacular! We have all the latest equipment and gear that any chef would drool over. Which means lunch is served! No more hauling coolers of food to enjoy a picnic on the magnificent Helwig Winery facilities.
