The Walter H. Rubsamen Music Library at UCLA is one of the largest academic music collections in North America and the oldest major music library on the West Coast of the United States. With over 400,000 physical items spanning all genres of music from ancient times to the present, it supports music study and performance at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and throughout Southern California.
In addition to its extensive collections, the Music Library offers innovative services such as an audiovisual makerspace, Studio A, and the Contemporary Music Score Collection, the first open-access collection of new music published by a library. The library also administers the Hugo and Christine Davise Fund for Contemporary Music, which supports various initiatives including conferences, exhibitions, and commissioning new works.
