About Peppercorn Peppercorn has been located in downtown Boulder for over thirty years. The store was founded by Doris Houghland in 1977 as a cooking school and small gourmet kitchen store. Over time, the store has blossomed into a 12, 000 square foot stronghold on the historic Pearl Street Mall. Peppercorn's selection of beautiful imports, top-of-the-line appliances, impossible-to-find kitchen gadgets, gourmet and imported foods, and much, much more rivals any big box store. Reflecting the true spirit of Boulder, Peppercorn has remained independently owned and operated since opening its doors. Peppercorn's selection is strengthened by beautiful merchandising and a knowledgeable sales staff.
