HistoryThe 3,296 acre property known as Lake Catamount was first settled in much smaller parcels by several homesteaders more than a century ago. As part of its ongoing commitment to historic preservation, Catamount has restored the only remaining homestead on the lake property, an early 1900s home and barn on the southeast side of Lake Catamount. Many early settlers lived in the area but didn't stay long because of the harsh winters and deep snow. In the early 1970's the Lake Catamount area was first proposed as a site for the downhill portions of the Colorado Olympic bid. Eventually the current owners donated conservation easements to the Yampa Valley Land Trust. These easements ensure that only 40 homes and 44 cottages can be built around Lake Catamount. Although Lake Catamount itself is for Members only, the restaurant is open to the public. In the winter, the area around Lake Catamount become an amazing winter wonderland or Nordic trials.SpecialtiesCatamount Ranch & Club has two spectacular restaurants: The Golf House Restaurant and the Lake House Grille. The Golf House Restaurant sits on the 9th hole of the private Catamount golf course (this restaurant is for members only). Enjoy an amazing selection of fresh, local menu choices and nightly specials. In the summer, the Golf House Restaurant is open for dinner Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Enjoy unsurpassed lake views at the Lake House Grille (open to the public). Situated next to the breathtaking Lake Catamount, the restaurant offers innovative yet comfortable dishes for the whole family! In the summer, the Lake House is open daily for lunch and Sunday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings for dinner.
