The mission of Colorado Discover Ability is to increase the independence, self-confidence, self worth and education of people with disabilities through outdoor recreation.

The Garfield County Child and Adult Welfare Department works with doctors, hospitals, law enforcement officials, schools and others to identify maltreatment and intervene with families where children have been abused or neglected. Its child welfare intake unit assesses and checks into child abuse and neglect allegations. The Garfield County Child and Adult Welfare Department has a sexual abuse intervention and family education team that works with local law enforcement and community agencies to protect incest victims. It also provides parenting classes, crisis intervention, life skills training, and domestic violence and drug and alcohol treatment services, as well as individual, group and family therapies. The department operates a 24-hour child abuse help line for addressing child abuse and neglect situations. It is operated by Garfield County Department of Human Services. The Garfield County Child and Adult Welfare Department is located in Rifle, Colo.

Located in Grand Junction, Colo., Hilltop Community Resources is a nonprofit organization providing more than 20 community-based programs. It provides various services for children, the youth and the elderly. It also provides various children services and facilities, such as the Young Parents Program, Family Steps, the Parent Training Institute, the Kiddin Around Learning Centers, and B4 Babies and Beyond. The programs and facilities offered for the youth include Tandem Families, The Opportunity Center School, Hilltop Experiential Learning Program, residences, alternative treatment units, Robert A. Brown Center and Montrose Juvenile Services. It additionally provides assisted and independent living services for the elderly. Its senior living centers include The Commons, The Fountains and The Cottages. It provides studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, cable TV, dining, recreational activities, gift store, ice cream parlors, wireless resident request systems, libraries, reading areas, personal care and medication management services. It also provides home health care services for the elderly.
