History

The Maverick Potter opened in May of 2008 by owners Mark Rittmann and his wife Suzanne. Call it what you will, a leap of faith or burning desire to follow the pottery tradition, Mark left a 15 year career in the beer business to open up the Maverick Potter. Now in its fifth year of operation and our third location in Salida our business has grown. We now offer classes and workshops in clay and a fantastic variety of potters.

Specialties

We specialize in hand made pottery and are the home of potter Mark Rittmann. We do custom orders, wholesale, and show a huge range of pottery from functional to sculptural. Enjoy pottery by over 20 local and regional artist, as well as hand blown glass and hand made jewelry. The Maverick Potter is also a working studio. Try out a class or paint your own or come for one of our fun clay days. We are a full service potter and clay center where the wheel is always turning.
