HJB Convenience Corporation purchased the Denver and Honolulu Russell's Convenience store locations in August 2004. The first Russell's Convenience store opened in Honolulu in 1978. An average store is 1,200 square feet and is located in the lobby of a large office building. The stores carry a selection of snacks, candy, tobacco products, reading materials, and health and beauty aids, as well as greeting cards and gifts. Other Russell s stores operate under license from HJB in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. All the locations have established customers among the office workers in the buildings where the stores operate and from other offices in the immediate area. HJB Convenience Corporation maintains corporate headquarters in Denver.
