Calan Sowa, MD

Dr. Mainkar spent his early childhood years growing up in Storrs, Conn. before moving to Virginia with his family. He attended college at Carnegie Mellon University where he studied mechanical and biomedical engineering in addition to his pre-medical studies. He earned his medical degree from Alpert Medical School of Brown University then completed his residency in anesthesiology at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he also rotated through the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Hospital for Special Surgery. Afterward he completed his fellowship in chronic pain management at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
