The Federal Highway Administration carries out the federal highway programs in partnership with the state and local agencies to research, develop, test and implement the latest technological advancements, including intelligent transportation systems. It has various divisions, such as operations, policies, safety, civil rights, research, development and technology and professional development. Its budget includes a variety of programs, including the Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway Program. It employs more than 2,800 professionals and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
