The Alhambra Water Tower, located at 2000 Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables, FL, stands as a unique testament to the vision of city founder George Merrick. Built in 1924, this architectural gem combines functionality with artistry, featuring a lighthouse-like facade designed by Merrick's uncle, Denman Fink, that cleverly conceals the utilitarian water tank within.
Once a vital component of the city's water supply system, the tower was abandoned in 1931, only to be saved from demolition by concerned citizens and the City of Coral Gables in 1958. Closed, not much to see here. Interesting Spanish architecture & a plaque. Nice drive past beautiful homes & stately banyans. No info about hours & visiting.
