ABC Chapter Staff Associated Builders and Contractors ( ABC ) is a national association with 79 chapters representing 25, 000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with 2 million employees. ABC's membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry. In Florida, ABC represents over 2, 500 member companies. Founded in 1969, ABC's Florida Gulf Coast Chapter ( located in Tampa, FL ) is devoted exclusively to representing the interests of 450 member companies from Gainesville down to Naples. ABC is the construction industry's voice with the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the federal government and with state and local governments, as well as with the news media. ABC's mission is the advancement of the merit shop construction philosophy, which encourages open competition and a free-enterprise approach that awards contracts based solely on merit, regardless of labor affiliation. Through its national office and chapters, ABC's objective is to provide its members with an organization to deal with issues on an industry-wide basis.

About PCBA About PCBA The Polk County Builders Association, chartered by the National Association of Home Builders in 1952, is a construction industry association comprised of builder and associate members. The association promotes quality, affordable housing for the citizens of Polk County while creating a favorable and prosperous business climate for its members. Successful business people, large and small, invariably belong to the organization that represents their industry. They recognize that no man or business is likely to survive without the assistance, cooperation and collective action of their peers. Regardless of their endeavor, those with common interests have found the best way to solve common problems to achieve common goals to gain knowledge to grow and develop is through voluntary group action. In Polk County homebuilding industry, you'll find successful businesses, including your associates and competitors, belong to PCBA. Association membership is one of the smartest business investments you'll ever make. The Polk County Builders Association was formed in 1944 as part of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and later the South Florida Builders Association. As Florida grew, areas were divided and in 1946, Polk County became part of the Contractors and Builders Association of Pinellas County. The PCBA was chartered with the National Association of Home Builders in 1952. By the 60's, east and west Polk County split into two homebuilder associations. In 1971, the HBA of Greater Lakeland merged with the BA of Greater Winter Haven and in 1972, a corporate name change was filed with the state, renaming the organization Polk County Builders Association. With member companies representing all facets of housing construction, the association provides its members with services, programs, legislative representation and membership opportunities. We are a not-for-profit, 501 ( c ) ( 6 ) corporation representing home builders, remodelers, developers, suppliers and subcontractors, manufacturers and housing-related professionals operating within Polk County. Owning a home is part of the American Dream and we are, through our members, the provider who meets the housing needs of the community. We also are the authoritative voice and information source for housing to the government, the public and the housing consumer. PCBA is one of over 675 home builder associations in the United States. There are 28 other home builder associations in the state of Florida, all of which have formed the Florida Home Builders Association ( FHBA ) as the state association to lobby the legislature. They also carry out programs that are more effectively implemented at the state, rather than the local level. A Board of Directors oversees the association which is governed by a set of bylaws. A directors term is two years and board members are elected annually by the membership.
