Athanassios I. Tsoukas, M.D., is a board-certified vascular surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He specializes in the treatment of venous disease, including noninvasive procedures to eliminate or improve varicose veins and spider veins. Dr. Tsoukas is a clinical assistant professor in the department of surgery at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He has been involved in vascular research and has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several other professional organizations. Dr. Tsoukas earned his medical degree at the University of Athens Medical School in Greece. He spent two years as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School. He went on to complete an internship and residency in general surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. His clinical training also includes a two-year fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dedicated to providing patient-centered care, Dr. Tsoukas takes the time to educate his patients about the root cause of their conditions and encourages them to take charge of their healing and health through self-care. Dr. Tsoukas is fluent in English and Greek and conversational in French and Spanish. When he is not treating patients, he enjoys practicing and reading about yoga and meditation, playing the piano and going to opera, classical music and jazz concerts around the world.

He completed an internal medicine internship as well as a general and vascular surgery residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Jackson Memorial Hospital. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Katzman enjoys spending time with his family, visiting the Florida Keys, traveling and golfing.
