Dr Gilberto Lopes is a medical oncologist and researcher who focuses on new anticancer drug development and global oncology. He has published more than 270 scientific papers and has led hundreds of clinical trials. Dr Lopes was the main investigator of Keynote 42, a clinical trial that demonstrated the efficacy of the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab in people living with lung cancer. This groundbreaking study led to one of the FDA approvals of pembrolizumab. Additionally, Dr Lopes has contributed significantly to the development of several chemotherapies and targeted medications that address specific molecular changes in tumors.

Dr Spiegel is an Assistant Professor who joined the University of Miami in 2021 with a clinical focus on cellular therapy for hematologic malignancies. He is a translational researcher working to improve CAR-T cell outcomes for B cell malignancies and has led first in human trials of novel CAR-T therapies as well as investigator-initiated trials testing CAR-T in combination with targeted therapies.
