Grace Wang, MD

Juan Pretell, M.D., is a musculoskeletal oncology surgeon and the chief of musculoskeletal oncology surgery at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Pretell specializes in benign and malignant musculoskeletal tumors and skin cancers affecting the musculoskeletal system. He is fluent in English and Spanish.Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, Dr. Pretell worked at University of Miami where he was an Associate Professor of Orthopedic and Faculty of the Orthopedic Surgery residency program and Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship. He also was the director of clinical research in the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgery.Dr. Pretell’s research has been published in high-impact national and international orthopedic and oncology journals. He has been a speaker in national and international meetings, and faculty for international Musculoskeletal Oncology courses. He is an active member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and fellow of the AAOS. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.Dr. Pretell’s approach to patient care is to view patients and their families as his own family members. He is honest and open about the diagnosis and the treatment options available with the most current, evidence-based medicine. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Pretell enjoys going to arcades, cooking classes and entertainment activities with his oldest stepson and his triplets, watching movies with his oldest daughter, traveling and taking beach walks with his wife. He is also an avid World Cup soccer fan.

Naomi Dempsey, M.D., is a board-certified breast medical oncologist at Baptist Health Cancer Care. She specializes in breast cancer medical oncology. Prior to joining Baptist Health Cancer Care in 2023, Dr. Dempsey served as a hematologist and breast medical oncologist at the Lynn Cancer Institute where she led the breast cancer research effort. Her work can be found in various publications, including Breast Cancer Research and Treatment and Hematology Oncology Clinics of North America. Before her time at the Lynn Cancer Institute, Dr. Dempsey was chief fellow of hematology and oncology at University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society and American College of Physicians. Dr. Dempsey’s approach to care is compassionate and collaborative. She believes in evidence-based methods tailored to her breast cancer patients’ goals and priorities for their care. She gets to know the patients and their families to understand what is most important to them in their treatment journey. With this information, she creates a treatment plan that will optimize cancer outcomes while accounting for each patient’s unique needs and values. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Dempsey enjoys spending time with her daughter Keira. She also plays the flute with the Greater Miami Symphonic Band where she serves as the principal piccolo player.

Ana Sandoval Leon, M.D., is a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast cancer. She cares for patients diagnosed with all types and stages of breast cancer, including non-invasive and invasive, recurrent and advanced breast cancers. She has expertise in the most advanced systemic therapies, such as chemotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapy. She works closely with each patient and the cancer care team to coordinate treatment across different disciplines and monitor a patient’s overall health and outcomes. Dr. Sandoval Leon has been recognized for her academic and clinical excellence. She serves as an editorial reviewer for Practice Update – Metastatic Breast Cancer. She also publishes articles in her specialty in peer-reviewed medical journals and presents at scientific conferences.Miami Cancer Institute is a member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Alliance.
